Birmingham’s Post & Mail 14-storey building plans due for approval

Birmingham-Post-&-Mail-site

Plans for a new 14-storey building on the former Birmingham Post & Mail site are due to win planning approval tomorrow.

Developer Chatham Billingham’s proposals include a 14-storey office and apartment tower, built above the former Post & Mail printworks building, which forms the second phase of development. This latter phase will include up to 700,000 sq ft of mixed-use space comprising 234,000 sq ft of offices, 17,000 sq ft of retail and 115 flats. It will sit on top of the first phase, an underground car park on Weaman Street comprising 752 parking spaces, and 31,600 sq ft of offices and shops – due to complete later this year.

The site sits in the Colmore business district on Weaman Street.

The planning decision follows last month’s news that Chatham Billingham has appointed CBRE to find a buyer for the entire site, or a partner to work with  jointly to complete the project.
