Poundbury residents are furious at the Duchy of Cornwall’s plans for a £50m development to provide flats in the village.
They say the duchy is abandoning its founding principles because it is motivated by commercial gain. They say the spirit of the Dorset village will be broken if the duchy builds the 31 high-density flats in the village centre.
Residents have formed a pressure group to fight the application which goes to west Dorset planners on 25 August. The Duchy of Cornwall said the duchy remained fully committed to the founding principles of Poundbury.
