Administrators for the failed high street chain Poundworld have hit back at its founder after he accused Deloitte of ignoring his bid to save the company and thousands of jobs.
Chris Edwards, who founded Poundworld in 1974, wants to save about 180 stores, safeguarding 3,000 jobs, but said yesterday that “the whole administration process has been handled badly”.
Edwards, who sold the business in 2015 for £150m, warned there were just days left to prevent the retailer from collapsing with the loss of 3,000 jobs, as Deloitte continues to hunt for a buyer and conduct closing-down sales.
