Third party distributor Power (Europe) has shortlisted three sites in the Midlands for a 25,000 sq m (269,106 sq ft) cold storage warehouse and 2,240 sq m (24,112 sq ft) of offices to service its contract with Birds Eye.
In an unusual step the American company has, before selecting its preferred location, submitted planning applications on Gazeley’s Magna Park, Lutterworth; Wilson Bowden’s Interlink at junction 22 of the M1; and Powergen’s Ham Hall near Birmingham.
DTZ Debenham Thorpe’s Kate Hallan, agent on Hams Halls, said: “They have taken this approach because the proposed building is very high at 35 metres. Because this height is very unusual it could take longer to get the application through the planning process. So logically they are covering their risk across three sites.”
Colliers Erdman Lewis is advising Power (Europe).
