Prelet kick-starts Abbotsinch’s Paisley scheme

London-based developer, Abbotsinch Properties, has kick-started development on its “Abbotsinch 29” site in Refrewshire, with a 90,000 sq ft prelet to Academy Health Care.

Development is due to start on the 60-acre mixed-use site at St James Interchange, Paisley in the summer.

The private health provision specialist wants its diagnostic centre operational by 2007.

Although a rental formula has been agreed, a final figure is not yet settled and the developer was reluctant to estimate.

However, the site is on Enterprise Zone land, which will be reflected in the rent.

In addition, 160 residential units are to be developed on a 16-acre plot by Glasgow-based builders AS Homes.

A long-stay car park for airport users is also to be built, given the site’s proximity to Glasgow Airport and future development plans include a multi-storey car park.

Abbotsinch managing director, John Wotherspoon, said: “While 2005 involved a lot of hard work, we have always known that the location of the site, close to the motorway network and Glasgow Airport, would bring prominent organisations to Abbotsinch 29.

“Our intention now is to work with our partners and continue to speak with other businesses during the course of 2006.”

DTZ and Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Abbotsinch.
