Dominion Corporate Trust’s Yate Shopping Centre in south Gloucestershire is to get a 50,000 sq ft extension after securing prelets with M&S, Costa and Sports Direct.
The new units will sit at the eastern side of the 390,000 sq ft centre, opposite a 110,000 sq ft Tesco Extra, which opened in October last year.
Work is due to start next month, with completion due in March 2013.
M&S Simply Food has agreed to take an 18,000 sq ft unit adjacent to the scheme’s main 900-space free car park, while Sports Direct has taken 14,000 sq ft over two floors on a 10-year lease at £120,000 pa.
Costa has signed for a 1,780 sq ft unit at £60,000 pa on a 10-year lease.
Mark Hull, director at Dominion Corporate Trust, said: “We’re delighted to announce the arrival of these strong brands at Yate, which enables us to push ahead with our development plans.
“Yate has a strong regional catchment and a high demand for larger retail units to accommodate high street names, even during the current tough economic environment.
“We are now focusing on leasing the remaining 8,000 sq ft of new space, and further plans to reconfigure the centre to meet this demand.”
