Preston’s new central attraction

The Fishergate Centre, the 375,000-sq ft shopping scheme being developed in Preston by Charterhall Properties, Debenhams subsidiary Freebody Properties and British Rail Property Board, is finding takers well in advance of its October completion, according to letting agents Conrad Ritblat & Co.

The £30m scheme includes an 80,000-sq ft Asda superstore which will open this Easter. A 125,000-sq ft department store for Debenhams, built with a “Galleria”, will house Burtons’ subsidiaries Dorothy Perkins, Principles and Burtons Mensware, plus other major retailers.

Others moving into Fishergate include Chelsea Girl (7,000 sq ft), Dixons (8,000 sq ft) and Superdrug (6,000 sq ft), all of whom are vacating stores elsewhere in Preston.

According to Conrad Ritblat, on the lower level zone A rents are £35 and, at the top, £45.
