Redevelopment of Amounderness House in Preston, Lancashire, has been given the go-ahead. The £9m proposals, brought forward by the council, will see the grade II listed building turned into modern flexible workspace, creating 26 offices and studios plus meeting and event space to be operated by Wrkspace. The scheme, designed by FWP Architects, also features improvements to the existing courtyard, which is being adopted for public use.
Chris Hayward, director of development and housing at Preston City Council, said: “Breathing new life into Amounderness House will play a key role in our ongoing drive to support the growth of innovative local businesses by providing them with an inspiring and dynamic city centre hub.”
Amounderness House is one of six projects under Preston’s Harris Quarter Towns Fund Investment Programme, for which the city was awarded £20.9m from the government’s Towns Fund in March 2021.
