Rumours that John Laing is holding out for an offer of 350p-a-share from bidder Henderson lifted the PFI specialist 17p to 340.25p.
The Financial Times notes that investment banks all over the world have rushed to launch multimillion funds investing in infrastructure assets.
Henderson launched an infrastructure fund last year. It raised £330m for projects, including one contract to build and operate schools in Scotland and another to build and operate a hospital in Country Durham.
