Primark is to open a store in UK Commercial Property Trust’s Charles Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Clothing retailer Primark has agreed to take a new 50,000 sq ft flagship store that is part of a wider upgrade of the shopping centre’s public areas, ground floor and atrium.
The new store will be a configuration of nine existing units across two floors, and have a net sales area of 30,300 sq ft.
The works form part of UKCPT’s asset management strategy, at both the Charles Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres, that aims to increase footfall and attract new retailers such as Primark and Australian stationary brand Smiggle, which has also agreed to take space at the Charles Darwin centre.
Primark’s store will open in spring or summer 2017. The public area works are due to complete at the end of March 2017.
UKCPT, which is advised by Standard Life Investments, has appointed McLaughlin & Harvey to carry out the major refurbishment.
