Primark tries on Torquay M&S store for size

Clothing retailer Primark has paid over £4m for the freehold of the former Marks & Spencer store in the heart of Torquay.

The store on Union Street comprises a ground floor and a first floor totalling some 9,000 sq m (30,000 sq ft). It was closed in May, and is one of a number of prime site stores that Marks & Spencer has offloaded as part of its cost-cutting drive.

Hartnell, Taylor Cook was the selling agent.
