After nearly half a century, specialist shoe retailer Babers vacating its store on London’s Oxford Street.
Babers, which is affiliated to gentleman’s shoe manufacturer and retailer Church’s, is closing its shop at 299 Oxford Street next January. It has appointed Jones Lang Wootton to market the premises on a new lease.
The store, west of Oxford Circus, which Babers has occupied since 1952, comprises 226 sq m (2,438 sq ft) on the ground floor, 239 sq m (2,580 sq ft) in the basement, and is directly opposite the John Lewis department store.
Nick Ware, head of Jones Lang Wootton’s central London retail team, said: “The Babers store is in an absolutely prime location on the UK’s leading retail street. This is the position where the top multiple retailers want to be. We already have strong expressions of interest after only one day of our marketing campaign.”
