Mary Portas, Alan Bennett and Dame Joan Bakewell have launched a fight against planning changes which “threaten to destroy” communities.
The unlikely triumvirate are among residents who have written to Communities Secretary Eric Pickles to preserve the character of their London village, Primrose Hill. They claim that policies to bring empty offices back to use as housing have led to some businesses being evicted as developers swoop to convert to luxury flats.
