Prince Charles row provokes FoI worries

The Republic campaign group has condemned planned government changes to the Freedom of Information Act in the wake of fresh allegations of lobbying by the Prince of Wales on building design projects.

The changes would introduce a blanket 20-year exemption for documents relating to the Royal Family.

Republic dismissed the Ministry of Justice’s comments that the change was to “ensure the constitutional position and political impartiality of the monarchy is not undermined” as “nonsense”.
