Taylor Wimpey reported a 9% rise in operating profit in the six months to 3 July, and said it had seen no meaningful change in house sales.

People have stopped talking about Brexit outside of prime central London, the company’s chief executive, Pete Redfern, said.

The number of completed homes rose by 3% to 6,019, while the average selling price was up 5.8% at £238,000. Its order book jumped 16% to £2.2bn.
