PropCoin launches transatlantic equity raise

Proptech business PropCoin has launched an equity raise in the UK and US through Crowdcube and Circle-owned SeedInvest.

The start-up, which was set up to give investors “passive exposure to cryptocurrencies, while benefiting from the stability of an asset-backed security”, aims to create a regulatory-compliant digital security built on blockchain, with the objective of tokenising a real estate property fund combining the liquidity of digital currencies with the stability of real estate.

Following the raise, investors will now be able to put in as little as £10 here in the UK. PropCoin acts as both a hedge against digital currency market fluctuations and a route to investing in real estate with smaller sums of capital.

The PropCoin token is a digital security with underlying funds invested directly into the property market, offering holders exposure to a fund which will focus on income-generating real estate assets across a range of sectors and locations in the UK.

PropCoin co-founder Tom Cartlidge said: “This equity raise will give PropCoin the opportunity to advance the operating technology and ensure we are a fully regulated entity. We see this as an exciting opportunity to be involved in a company which combines the traditional real estate market with the technology of new digital assets.”
