SEGRO operates over 60m sq ft of flexible business space across Europe – equivalent to £5.3bn in property assets – and is home to more than 1,700 businesses. And it continues to perform. In 2010 it achieved 339 new leases. In the UK alone, that number was 245 – almost one per working day.

“It is another impressive performance from the company to beat in this category,” said one judge. “SEGRO has delivered stunning deals and a high volume of transactions.”

The company has continued to drive down vacancy rates, and in 2010 saw EPRA profit before tax rise 22.1% to £127.3m, reflecting the full-year impact of the acquisition of Brixton.

It launched its own iPhone app, incorporating a property search facility and GPS capabilities to identify a user’s geographical location and display local availability. Next, it is looking at Blackberry and Android platforms and enhanced features, such as augmented reality. Meanwhile, its charitable work has seen it engage with local communities.
