Property enquiries soar as occupiers regain confidence

Property enquiries are steadily climbing week-on-week, signalling that more occupiers and investors are preparing to return to the market as the government-imposed lockdown restrictions are eased.

According to the latest data from EG Propertylink, the number of email and phone enquiries made on properties rose from 2,043 to 2,348 last week, which is 80% of the 2,928 total achieved in the week commencing 9 March, before the lockdown began.

Enquiries dipped to a nine-week low of 1,043 during the first week of lockdown (beginning 23 March), a drop of 31% on the previous week and 64% down on the week commencing 9 March, as government measures took effect.

However, occupier and investor sentiment has since turned a corner. Enquiries have been steadily recovering, increasing by 22% in the week beginning 27 April, from 1,679 to 2,043.

The level of enquiries jumped again, by 15% week-on-week, during the period beginning 4 May.
