Property inheritance to be worth more than £400bn in next decades

Younger generations are set to inherit property worth more than £400bn in the decades ahead, according to research by Royal London.

Those aged between 45 and 64 are the most likely to benefit from such an inheritance, while four million of the total 17 million people aged between 25 and 44 are expected to inherit property from grandparents.

The insurer estimates that home-owning grandparents will on average leave an estate worth between £400,000 and £500,000.
