They came by plane, train and penny-farthing to Propski 2017.
This year, networking at the property industry’s week in the snow meant a tête-à-tête on a ski lift, huddling over vin chaud at drinks hosted by Veritas, saluting over-35s with MJ Mapp, dining en masse at the Paragon Mountain Meal, and being guided through the slopes with Aston Rose.
There was also the building of human pyramids in the Revcap Mountain Challenge.
At the fifth annual Propski, professionals also forged business relationships over a packed programme of events, including EG’s open-air Question Time.
Nick Cuff, land director of Pocket Living, told a gathering that disruption was an important part of the evolution of the property industry.
“If we always followed planning regulations to the letter of the law, then you wouldn’t have Pocket, you wouldn’t have the private rented sector, and you wouldn’t have interesting businesses like The Collective.”
Tom Redmayne, business development director at Wiredscore and former Cushman & Wakefield agent, urged property graduates to “understand the trends coming out of [Massachusetts Institute of Technology] and [global architecture firm] NBBJ”, to make them better at advising clients.
A rousing auction conducted by Propski co-founder Rupert Parker, of GVA, raised over £7,000 for LandAid. And the Macdonald & Company Race Day proved a highlight once again.
Taking honours in the JLL men’s ski event was Campbell Beaton of Campbell Beaton Associates, while Hollie Clarke of Habitat won the women’s event. Toby Oldham of Legal & Contingency won the MJ Mapp Masters race; Alexander Fox of CBRE won the Freedmans Law Mens’ Board Race; Emma Walker of N220 won the Goldcrest Land women’s board; and first in the GVA team slalom was Beaton, Clarke, Peter Moore and Ed Rigby, of Macdonald & Company.
The Adventure in Architecture tube race trophies went to Paragon’s Paul Arthur and Yvette Walton of Sainsbury’s.
Propski co-founder Will Chambers, of JLL, said: “We are very proud to deliver such a great event. We understand Propski is now the Alps’ largest UK property-focused ski networking event.”
