Nicholas van Hoogstraten has been released on police bail.
The property tycoon was arrested on Monday in connection with the killing in 1999 of Mohammed Raja, his business associate, in Sutton, Surrey. He has not been charged.
David Croke, of Brighton, is due to stand trial for the murder.
