Property unit trusts break £3bn barrier in second quarter

Property unit trusts are more popular than ever, with the amount invested in the sector reaching a record high according to the latest quarterly data from the Association of Property Unit Trusts.

The value of the 21 funds included is now £3.1bn, an increase of £136m on the previous quarter.

The amount of new cash flowing into property unit trusts remains strong, as the demand for indirect property investment vehicles grows.

Over £169.5m was raised in the last three months, £100m more than in the same period last year, but slightly down on the previous quarter.

The total raised this year is now £344m to date. Last year the total raised was just £25m.

And, investors are sticking with PUTs: the value of units redeemed has fallen by 75% from £12m to just £3m.
