Residents of Richborough in Kent have expressed concern about plans by two high-speed trading companies to build masts in the area.
Vigilant Global and New Line Networks have both made planning applications to build towers, which would be around 1,000 ft high, in order to speed up the transmission of data to continental Europe and given them an advantage over other companies.
The two companies say the local community would benefit from better broadband speeds and improved mobile reception. Local MP Craig Mackinlay said the visual impact would be negative and questioned what the possible impact would be on the potential reopening of Manston airport.
