Prudential is planning an £8m refurbishment of its Prudential Buildings scheme on Cathedral Green in Birmingham.
The 5,896 sq m (63,463 sq ft) building will be rebranded Cathedral Court. Its internal core will be remodelled to provide a new and entrance and reception area, while the ground floor retail element will trade as usual.
The offices have remained largely vacant in recent years, which spurred on the decision for redevelopment.
Geoff Thomas, of DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, joint letting agent with CB Hillier Parker, said: “There’s presently an imbalance of supply and demand of prime office space in the central core, with nothing more than 2,322 sq m (25,000 sq ft) available or under construction.”
Work will start on site later this year, with completion by the end of 2001.
