Government Office for Merseyside has taken the ground floor of Cunard Building on Liverpool’s Pier Head, in one of the largest lettings in the City for some time.
The department has signed up for 3,400 sq m (36,000 sq ft) at the Prudential scheme in a deal which represents 30% of the total office take-up over the first six months of the year.
It is paying £65 per sq m (£6 per sq ft) on a 15-year lease for the space which has recently been refurbished at an estimated cost of £2m.
KPMG completed the only other sizeable deal this year when it took a prelet on 1,394 sq m (15,000 sq ft) at Princes Dock, also on the waterfront.
Edmund Kirkby acted for Prudential, while PACE advised the Government Office for Merseyside.
