A £1.4bn skyscraper will rise above the City of London after M&G Prudential vowed to invest £875m to buy and fund the development of 40 Leadenhall.
The project, nicknamed Gotham City, will comprise a 34-storey tower and a 14-storey building, totalling 900,000 sq ft of mostly office space.
The Nuveen scheme, designed by Make architects, received planning 2014 but has since struggled to find a backer.
