Public sector lettings boost Salford

A pair of public sector office deals have been concluded on buildings in the Eccles New Road area of Salford, Greater Manchester.

Salford Royal NHS Trust has signed a 10-year lease on the 16,200 sq ft Summerfield House building, which is owned by Carillion at a deal breaking down to around £9.50 per sq ft.

King Sturge advised the trust, while AS Green & Partners and Canning O’Neill represented Carillion.

Meanwhile, Salix Homes, a division of Salford Housing Trust, has taken 15,450 sq ft in the first and second floors of Diamond House, part of the Peel Cross development, close to the end of the M602.

The building, which will be used as the company’s headquarters, has been let at £9.50 per sq ft and is owned by Berkeley Estates London.

Canning O’Neill and King Sturge are joint agents on the scheme.

Chris Mulcahy, partner at King Sturge in Manchester, said: “The growing popularity of Salford is testament to the regeneration strategy implemented by the council and its development partners in recent years.

“Obviously, the BBC’s announcement to move to Media City has generated huge interest and the ongoing redevelopment of Salford will no doubt provide a further pull.”
