Angry publicans are planning a rent strike against landlords Punch Taverns and Enterprise Inns after last week’s Office of Fair Trading ruling that the beer tie between tenants and pub companies’s was not anti-competitive.
A group called the Pub Revolutionary group, run by a Punch Taverns’ licensee and claiming to represent 2,000 publicans, has said its members will begin a rent strike within the next few weeks.
The strike will reportedly cost Punch and Enterprise £50m in the first three months.
