Plans to allow all publicans to buy beer on the open market will be debated in the Commons tomorrow, in a bid to scrap the ’tight tie’.
The Liberal Democrats have brought forward the proposals to scrap the ‘beer tie’ system, which restricts pubs from buying drinks from competitors and limits freedom on rent agreements, as part of the Small Business Bill.
Under the proposal all tied tenants will have the right to request a rent review if they have not had one for five years.
