Q Developments cooks up PBSA scheme for former McDonald’s office

Q Developments and Broadway Malyan have submitted plans to redevelop the site of the former McDonald’s regional office in Salford into a 538-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme.

The proposal submitted to Salford City Council includes the development of a 27-storey tower that aligns with the principles set out for the site in the Salford Crescent Framework masterplan.

The development, located at 3 Cross Lane, is near to the University of Salford, Salford Crescent railway station and Peel Park.

Construction of the development is expected to begin towards the end of this year.

Andrew Goldthorpe, associate director at Broadway Malyan, said: “This key site in Salford will be transformed with the addition of new homes for students and high-quality public realm, acting as a catalyst for further investment in the Crescent Transport Hub Zone.

“Its location, close to the university campus and public transport, means the project can promote new connections for all, improving the public’s experience of this part of the city.”
