Warner Village has backed the proposed Queensgate multiplex scheme in Dunfermline, leaving the town’s rival leisure development, Fife Leisure Park, still looking for a tenant.
The joint venture between Warner Village Cinemas and Village Roadshow International, has agreed terms on a 3,344 sq m (36,000 sq ft) cinema unit, making it the first occupier to sign at either scheme.
The deal puts developer New Dunfermline ahead of its competitor Kilmartin which is still to sign an operator or get a planning application for its 3,251 sq m (35,000 sq ft) cinema at Fife Leisure Park.
New Dunfermline is also in talks with JJB Sports, Woolworths and Bhs to take anchor stores at the 13,006 sq m (140,000 sq ft) mixed-use development. Woolworths and Bhs. The sports retailer is looking at taking a 1,254 sq m (13,500 sq ft) unit in the Queensgate scheme.
