Quintain’s Kempner in 35% pay hike

Quintain executive director Nigel Kempner received a 35% bump in remuneration last year, taking his total pay to more than £1m.

The hike came as the Grafton Advisors founder, who joined the firm in 2012, received a 17% salary hike to £275,000 and was awarded £194,000 as part of his long-term incentive plan plus a substantial increased pension contribution.

Kempner has also been awarded a 10.5% salary increase to £304,000 this year, in line with an expanded investment director role.

Chief executive Max James was Quintain’s highest-paid employee after his remuneration rose by 25% to £1.4m last year. Again the increase consisted mainly of a £275,000 lift under his LTIP.

Finance director Richard Stearn was the only executive to take home a larger bonus than the previous year, pocketing £448,000 – half of his £894,000 total package.
