Quintain is seeking planning consent for 1,000 new homes at its Cherrywood Village development in South Dublin before the end of the year.
The developer ultimately plans to deliver more than 3,000 new homes across its 118-acre land holding, which Lone Star bought last year from Hines and King Street Capital. Cherrywood Village represents around half of this.
The first application for the location was submitted earlier this month, for 134 three- and four-bed houses and duplexes. The developer plans to begin construction of the first phase later this year, with the homes available for sale in early 2021.
Four further applications for more than 800 additional homes are planned before the end of the year, with these applications likely to be a mix of houses, flats and duplexes and will include the village centre. A full masterplan for the village is set to be published in September.
When completed, Cherrywood Village would include more than 1,300 homes, two public parks and more than 50,000 sq ft of retail and civic space.
Eddie Byrne, joint managing partner at Quintain, said: “A full masterplan for this area will be published before the end of September and outline our ambitious vision to deliver a new place to live in South Dublin, that is well connected to existing infrastructure and amenities.
“Cycleways and pedestrian routes will link to the Luas and Dublin bus stops, and a vibrant village centre will provide shops, restaurants and cafés, and crèche facilities.”
Quintain said it is also factoring in office space in its designs, since the pandemic has increased the likelihood that more people will work from home in the future.
Ideas under consideration include designing an office space or room into new houses, and building more shared workspace in future apartment developments.
