Race to build leisure scheme in Plymouth speeds up

The race to build a major leisure scheme in Plymouth took a new twist this week as ASM properties signed up multiplex operator UCI to anchor its Mill Bay project. UCI will be paying around £134.25 per sq m (£12.50 per sq ft) to operate the 12-screen multiplex.

This will be a blow to Citygrove Leisure, which last week scooped a rival scheme, at Coxside, from Morrison Developments.

Citygrove’s managing director Toby Baines said that UCI’s decision did not affect his company’s Coxside plans. The company is thought to be in talks with Virgin and Warner for the scheme.
