Racquets and Healthtrack Group unveils expansion plans

Leisure club operator Racquets & Healthtrack Group is searching for sites as it gears up to launch four new ventures.

Graham Thomas, Racquets and Healthtrack’s chief executive, said: “We are looking for sites nationwide, but we want locations in large cities or towns with good communications with major road systems.”

The Fleet-based group has started work on a 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) racquets centre, complete with 10 indoor tennis courts, on 3.6 ha (10 acres) on Wilford Lane, Nottingham. Two clubs are trading at Brooklands, Surrey and Cheshire Oaks, Chester.

The company has already lined up three new sites. A 10,033 sq m (108,000 sq ft) development is planned for Cranmore Boulevard, Shirley, near Solihull; a smaller 4,180 sq m (45,000 sq ft) fitness centre in Sudbury Hill, Ealing, West London and another 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) at Trafford Park near Manchester. Construction will begin on the Shirley and Ealing clubs in the Spring next year, while Manchester may not get underway until the summer.

Oliver Liggins is advising Racquets & Healthtrack group.
