Railtrack has selected a consortium made up of Charter Properties and Dayeh Commercial Projects for a £20m leisure development on the 3.5ha (8.5 acre) East Yard site in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The disused rail sidings are bounded by George Street, Fisherton Street and Meadow Street, close to Salisburys inner ring road. Under the new plan the site will be redeveloped as a multiplex cinema, ten-pin bowling alley, themed restaurants and a pub with parking for more than 600 cars.
Bob Hill, property director of Railtrack, said that the scheme would complement the retail development currently proposed for the adjoining cattle market site.
A planning application will be lodged with Salisbury District Council later in the year. Consortium member Saleem Dayeh said that the proposals were in line with DoE guidelines and with the recently-adopted Salisbury District Local Plan.EGi News 06/08/96
