Rayner loses ‘levelling up’ from department name

Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has changed the name of the the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, renaming it as the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government. The Labour government said it will remove the words ‘levelling up’ from departmental and ministerial titles. Conservatives added the “levelling up” phrase under former prime minister Boris Johnson in 2021.   A Government of public service means fixing the fundamentals to deliver for the British people. No more gimmicks and slogans, but the hard yards of governing in the national interest.
