RBS’ Spinningfields prelet takes next step forward

The prospect of a 38, 550 sq m (415,000 sq ft) office prelet to Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) at Allied Londons Spinningfields office scheme, Manchester, has taken another step forward.

Allied London has applied for planning permission to develop 14,120 sq m (125,000 sq ft) of offices on what was to have been the site of a new Sheraton Hotel at their Spinningfields site, Manchester.

The building is understood to be for the “customer-facing” element of RBS’ requirement. Relocating the hotel was essential before the Royal Bank requirement – which insisted on a street frontage – could be accommodated. An announcement on the prelet deal is believed to be imminent.

Allied London chief executive Mike Ingall said: “We are reviewing options on where the hotel is to go. Our masterplan is flexible.”
