Simon Robinson, director in charge of Richard Ellis’s Birmingham office, has been selected as the first secondee to the New York office of US parent Insignia Financial Group following the merger earlier this year.
Investment specialist Robinson, 39, has been at RE for two decades and will be in the States for two years. “My transfer to New York will build on the excellent relationship between ourselves and my primary aim will be to increase RE’s exposure to US-based corporates and funds.”
His appointment follows the secondment of Tom Bermingham, at director level in Insignia, to RE’s London headquarters in Berkeley Square. Julian Shellard, who with Robinson set up the Birmingham office five years ago, will remain as head of the firm’s regional business and will take a more day-to-day involvement in running of the Birmingham office.
Robinson added: “The appointment is particularly exciting, given the concentration of US companies in the West Midlands and the potential for the increasing involvement of US funds and property companies in the UK as a whole.”
Recent deals he has acted in include advising MEPC on the forward funding of its scheme at 125 Colmore Row to USS for £55m.
