Telecoms giant Ericsson will move its UK headquarters from Guildford Business Park, Surrey, to Thames Tower in Reading after signing a deal for 37,600 sq ft.
The company will take three floors of the tower, developed by Landid and Brockton Capital, understood to be at £38 per sq ft.
Launched less than a year ago, Thames Tower is now 75% let. Earlier this month, broadband network MBNL, architects Broadway Malyan and non-profit Make-A-Wish Foundation took a combined 23,000 sq ft at Thames Tower.
Other occupiers include shared workspace provider Fora, professional services firm BDO and sandwich chain Pret A Manger.
James Silver, development director at Landid, said: “Attracting a tenant of Ericsson’s scale is a watershed moment for the Thames Tower and Reading. It marks another strong endorsement in the town centre as a well-connected, modern and attractive place for blue-chip businesses and start-up firms alike to do business.
“It also confirms Thames Tower’s place as Reading’s premier commercial building, with three-quarters of the office space now let to some of the Western Corridor’s biggest names.”
Dan Rees, vice-president at Brockton Capital, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ericsson to Thames Tower to join the fast-growing collection of firms that have chosen to make Reading’s landmark office development their home.”
Parkinson Holt and JLL advised Landid and Brockton. Cushman & Wakefield acted for Ericsson.
