The office sector rallied round to raise £43,000 for charity by a variety of means at the British Council of Offices’ annual conference.
The event was hosted in Madrid last month and organisers cashed in on delegates’ collective interest in the city’s star football team, with £10,000 of Real Madrid memorabilia selling under the hammer during the conference dinner.
A further £33,000 was raised in a charity cycle ride that followed a 290-mile route from the Spanish port of Bilbao to the country’s capital.
All money raised went to the Willow Foundation, a national charity that provides special days for seriously ill 16 to 40-year-olds.
