Rebel members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) are demanding an extraordinary general meeting within the next 90 days to scale back proposed fee increases of 32% to 10%.
The organisation has increased fees by 64% over the past five years.
The rebels want fees from 2005 onwards to be limited to increases of no more than 2% above the retail prices index.
Jeremy Hackett, a quantity surveyor at Schofield Lothian, has collected 900 signatures in support.
RICS said it would be happy to respond to the criticisms the moment it received the requisition from rebels which it would take seriously.
The requisition also criticises the abilities of key RICS personnel and says head office has more staff than necessary.
