Office take-up in Leeds city centre reached its second highest level on record in 2015 with 680,100 sq ft transacted, according to the Leeds Office Agents’ Forum.
The figure was up 25% on the previous year’s total of 545,006 sq ft, and higher than the five-year average of 546,762 sq ft.
However, it failed to beat the 2013 record of 794,043 sq ft.
The final quarter of 2015 saw the highest volume of city centre deals ever recorded as take-up reached 267,187 sq ft − up 138% over the previous quarter.
During that quarter there were five city centre deals of over 10,000 sq ft as well as the 97,022 sq ft letting to Sky at Leeds Dock, which was the largest of the year.
The forum has forecast an “extremely positive” future for the Leeds office market, with MEPC’s 5 and 6 Wellington Place, M&G Real Estate and Marrico Asset Management’s Central Square, Rockspring’s 6 Queen Street and Bruntwood’s 3 Sovereign Square all due for completion in 2016.
