Redrow has secured holding fees from first-time buyers for 106 new homes in Filton, Bristol, which have yet to secure planning permission.

Not a brick has been laid as of yet, but hundreds of eager buyers queued up to stake their claim on an “affordable” home for £50 deposit each.

A council decision on planning is expected in April. Redrow intends to build 75 one-bedroom and 31 two-bedroom homes on the site of a sports ground which was previously owned by he old boys’ network of Colston’s School.
