Redrow has bought an 89-acre parcel of land at Lodge Farm in Witham, Essex, which has outline permission for up to 750 homes.
Plans for the Mulberries also include a new primary school, enterprise centre and allotments.
A total of 525 homes will be for private sale, and 30% of these will be affordable. Some £6m will be invested into the local area, of which £4.8m will go towards education.
The first homes at the Mulberries are due to be released for sale in early 2017.
Carl Atkinson, land director for Redrow Homes, said: “Lodge Farm is allocated for housing under the adopted Braintree District Council Core Strategy and we know from the high volume of enquiries we’ve received for our other Essex developments that there’s strong demand for new homes across the county.”
