Redrow slams higher housing densities as profits leap to £34.2m

Redrow has reported a 31% jump in half-year pretax profits to £34.2m on turnover up 27% to £205.2m.

Steve Morgan, chairman, attacked government attempts to increase the density of housing developments. He said people would rather have good design.

He said the industry was being forced into higher densities by the planning authorities which, in his opinion, was contrary to what the public wanted.
