Redrow has been chosen by the Homes and Communities Agency for the 700-home Nethermayne scheme in Basildon, Essex
The HCA has confirmed Redrow Homes will be its development partner, subject to completion of legal contracts, for the housing scheme on land owned by the HCA and South Essex College at Dry Street in Nethermayne.
Around 700 new homes will form part of a wider redevelopment, which will also include a new primary school, public open space, highway improvements and land for St Luke’s Hospice.
Outline planning consent for 725 homes was resolved for approval in June and a detailed planning application is expected to be submitted by Redrow in late 2013 or early 2014
Keith Parrett, managing director at Redrow Homes (South East), said: “This location has great potential for a sustainable new neighbourhood, which would make a considerable contribution to meeting local housing needs and have a strong emphasis on quality family homes.”
Malcolm Buckley, Basildon council cabinet member for regeneration, said: “I am pleased that the HCA is progressing well with this important project and are working with Redrow to bring forward a full planning application.”
