The Reeves family plans to build a showroom and flats on the site of House of Reeves, the Croydon store burnt down in the August riots.
An architect has been appointed and proposals are being prepared to be submitted to Croydon council.
The family has already received donations topping £10,000.
House of Reeves was established in 1867. The family-run shop was burnt down on 8 August when it was targeted during the height of the riots.
