Regal cleared for Camden student scheme

Regal’s plans to redevelop vacant London offices into a £125m, 264-bedroom student accommodation scheme have been approved by Camden Council.

The proposals for 100 Chalk Farm Road, NW1, comprise 264 student bedrooms, 30 affordable homes, nearly 11,000 sq ft of ground-floor commercial space, and new public realm enhancements. The DSDHA-designed project, next to the Grade II listed Roundhouse venue, will target BREEAM Outstanding and aims to be one of the first UK PBSA projects to be accredited WELL Platinum.

Steve Harrington, planning director at Regal, said: “We have worked hard to strike the right chord on this special site next to such an iconic performance venue and are very proud to be able to bring forward proposals that reflect the spirited history of Camden town. As a Camden-based developer, we are particularly excited that our newest PBSA project is in our home borough, and we look forward to bringing our proposals to life.”

Construction is likely to start later this year.
