Birmingham Council is co-ordinating £2bn of regeneration projects in Birmingham, including the creation of the Brummie version of New York’s Central Park, in the Eastside industrial district.
The government will give a £38m grant towards the scheme through Advantage West Midlands to buy land for the 3.23ha (8 acre) park and for a technology-based development
A “learning and leisure quarter” is expected to cost £250m as part of the Eastside’s regeneration.
